Rambam, in his introduction, describes his Mishnah Torah as a book of “
halacha after halacha” or “ strictly halacha”
The Rebbe took that to heart and finds halachic instruction in what was assumed
to be introductory remarks or rationales for mitzvos in the Rambam’s work.
For example: the lengthy description of the developments leading to early idol
worship and Avraham’s reaction to its worshippers. Merely an introduction to the
laws of idolatry? An historic perspective? Or halachic instruction?
